Head Strength & Conditioning Coach - James Baker
Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

James Baker has experience of delivering high quality training to professional, semi-professional and young athletes throughout the South West. James is an accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach with the UK Strength & Conditioning Association, the professional body for strength & conditioning in the UK as well as being a fully qualified Teacher and Register of Exercise Professionals’ Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer.

James has over six year’s experience working with athletes from a range of sports, including rugby, football, tennis, mixed martial arts, netball and athletics, from junior to senior competitors, at both amateur and elite levels. He has now developed the Elite Performance Pathway a school based Long Term Athlete Development and education programme that runs in curriculum time supporting athletes from the point they enter the school in Year 7 until they leave in Year 13.

Strength & Conditioning Intern

Jack is an undergraduate student studying Sport & Exercise Science at Cardiff Met who has been assisting with the delivery of the Elite Performance Pathway from it’s inception.

Jack works with our athletes at Key Stage 4 assisting in the delivery of sessions and working with athletes in the gym environment monitoring their progress. An impressive strength and power athlete Jack sets the bar very high with his performances under the bar in the gym.


A new addition to the Elite Performance Pathway is our Psychological Support team which has been set up and is overseen by Dr. Denise Hill from the University of Gloucestershire, and delivered by two of her post graduate students working towards becoming Sport Psychologists.

The team are providing psychological workshops that compliment the physical preparation sessions that the athletes are involved in each week.


Mental Preparation Coach

Tom is an aspiring Sports Psychologist working towards an MSc in Psychology of Sport and Exercise at the University of Gloucestershire. He previously graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with second-class honors, upper division (2:1) in Sports Science and Sports Coaching.

During his undergraduate studies, he completed a dissertation titled ‘A Qualitative Analysis into Aspects of Mental Toughness in Elite Female Cricketers’ where he gained psychological experience working with County and International female cricketers.

He continues to progress his passion for Sports Psychology by working with a talented group of athletes at St.Peter’s R.C. High School in Gloucester running psychological workshops and one-to-one consultations; teaching them psychological skills such as; goal setting, mental imagery and emotional control in their pursuit of sporting excellence.
